The Lake District. Loch Lomond. Glencoe. Loch Ness. Edinburgh. The breathtaking Highlands Adventure! Sat 25 - Mon 27 August, 2012

Highland Adventure

General Notes

The Highlands Adventure is a 600 mile driving event that takes in the best roads in and around the Lake District and Scotland. It is open to all makes, types and age of car.

IT IS NOT A RACE, RALLY OR TIME TRIAL. There are no time constraints or destination arrival deadlines. It is intended primarily to be a fun, social driving experience where like minded petrolheads can get away from it all by driving, dining and telling each other far fetched stories about their cars, daily exploits and past adventures and encounters. And a casual dress code!

Note couples are welcome and are expected to make up 50% of all attendees on this event.

The Price

£400 per car (£200 per person) based on 2 drivers sharing accommodation (£350 for CD Tour returnees).

Itinerary

Sat 25 August (Kendal - Glencoe - Kingussie)
Meeting and registration will take place at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal. The 1st leg will see drivers negotiate various stunning roads and passes around the Lake District, after which we will head north, crossing the border and on to Loch Lomond, through the fantastic lochside hills all the way to Glencoe. Participants will get the chance to go to the summit of Glen Nevis by cable car (highly recommended) prior to driving to Fort William, past Ben Nevis and Loch Ness, finally arriving at the superb Duke of Gordon Hotel Kingussie nestled deep in the Cairngorms National Park.

Sun 26 August (Kingussie - Edinburgh - York)
A leisurely start to the days driving as we head south towards the Scottish capital, Edinburgh, where participants will get a chance to visit the city or the Royal Yacht Britannia. After lunch we will continue south, crossing the border and through Berwick and Jedburgh on what we consider the best road in England, the fantastic and charismatically named, A68. A quick hop down the A1 will see us arrive at our 2nd night destination, the fantastic 5* Cedar Court Grand Hotel in the walled city of York.

Mon 27 August (York - Home)
Full English breakfast followed by a stroll around York, then home.
